The next edition of the Asian Nations Cup, which will kick off in the UAE in January, will witness a number of national team players' first appearance in the continental tournament.
The UAE 2019 edition will record the first appearance of the two goalkeepers Mohammed Al-Owais and Mohammed Al-Yami after previous participation by veteran goalkeeper Waleed Abdullah.
Four backline players of the national team are participating in the Asian Cup for the first time, namely Hamdan Al-Shamrani, Abdulellah Al-Omari, Mohammed Al-Brik, Mohammed Al Fattil, in addition to Ali Al-Balaihi.
The centerline of the green-shirted team will be represented by Abdullah Khaibari, Abdul Aziz Al-Bishi, Abdullah Ateef, Hussein Al-Meqhawi, Hattan Bahebri, Abdul Rahman Gharib, and Ayman Al-Khalif, in their first Asian appearance.
For the first time in his career, Mohammed Al-Saeiri is preparing to lead the frontline of the green-shirted team in the Asian championship, noting that his teammate Fahad Al-Muwallad had already participated in the 2015 edition.
The national team is also participating within the teams of Group E, which also includes Lebanon, Qatar and North Korea.
The green-shirted team is looking for the fourth title in its history, and the first since 1996, when it topped the podium and won the gold medal in the edition that was also held in the UAE.
