Zayed City Stadium Hosts the Greens’ Third Match in the Asian Cup

Zayed Sports City Stadium in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, will host the last Greens’ last match in the group stage against Qatar, on January 17, after having hosted the inaugural match between the UAE and Bahrain, and it will also host the final on February 1.

The Stadium has a capacity of 43,000 seats – the largest among the stadiums of the championship, hosting 8 matches in the Asian Cup.

The Stadium is located in the capital Abu Dhabi and was opened in 1980.

The Stadium has witnessed the matches of Iraq and Vietnam in Group D, India and the UAE in Group A, and Oman and Japan in Group F.

In addition, in the eighth-finals, it will host a match between the first team of Group A, the organizing UAE national team, and the third team of Group C, D or E, and the quarterfinal between the winner of the match between the first team of Group C and third team of Group A, B or F against the winner of the match between the first team of Group E against the runner-up of Group D.

At this Stadium also the Saudi team was crowned the champion of the 1996 Asian Cup in the capital Abu Dhabi, in addition to the Greens having played on it, during the same championship, another two matches in the quarterfinals, where the Greens won 4-3 over China and won over Iran, in the semifinal, by penalty shootout after a goalless tie.
