Saudi U-23 national team open AFC U-23 Championship qualifications campaign against Maldives

Saudi U-23 national team will host Maldives in the Young Green Falcons opening game in AFC U-23 Championship qualifications Group D, at Prince Faisal Bin Fahd, in Riyadh.

AFC U-23 Championship qualifications Thailand 2020, will be held from 22-26 March, as Saudi Arabia play in Group D, alongside Maldives, Lebanon and United Arab Emirates.

It must be mentioned that the matches of Group D will be played in Riyadh.

The Saudi team hopes to find a huge attendance supporting them especially as the fans will enter the group games freely to support the Young Green Falcons.

For his part, coach Saad Al-Shehri affirmed at a press conference ahead of Maldives game that Saudi Arabia have a distinctive generation seeks qualification for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, insisting all the players of the Saudi team are ready for the coming matches.

"We have a distinguished group of players who can be developed to form the basic unit of the Saudi Senior team in 2022 world cup qualifiers", he added.

The first three teams in AFC U-23 Championship which will be held in Thailand will qualify directly to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

It must be noted that Saudi Arabia will play the second game against Lebanon on March 24 before concluding its games against UAE on March 26.
