The youth national team won the friendly Dubai International Cup after beating the UAE national youth team 3-0 on Tuesday evening at the Theyab Awana Stadium in the UAE Football Association headquarters. This victory gave the youth national team points to top the group.
The goals were scored by Abdulaziz Al Shahrani on the 25th minute and the 35th minute of the first half and by Hamed Al Ghamdi on the 88th minute with a penalty.
The team of the technical director Khaled Al Atwi consisted of Abdul Rahman Al-Shammari, Abdul Rahman Al-Ghannam, Abdul Majeed Al-Zahrani and Abdul Aziz Al Shahrani.
On this occasion, the technical director of the national team Khaled Al-Atwi said that the team's technical staff camp objective is to know the level of the players by conducting semi-official matches with high level of technical contact in order to prepare a list of the best players for the next camp as completion for the preparation for the 2018 AFC U-19 championship.
Al-Atwi pointed out that winning the championship title is good so that the players develop their victory culture. He added that the most important thing is to achieve the desired objectives set by the technical staff during the short preparation period, through which the players proved their high mental presence in the exercises and matches. He further expressed optimism, as a technical body, for the future to achieve greater positive results.
In relation to the absence of a number of famous players, he stated: "There are players who played with us in the Asian Cup qualifications held in Dammam last November and we know their level very well. Therefore, they were not invited to the camp”.
