Preparing for FIFA World Cup 2018 in its camp in Switzerland, Saudi national team played its first friendly game on Sunday.
In a match where Head Coach Antonio Pizzi made sure to get to know most of the players on the team, the Green Falcons lost to Italy 1-2.
Mario Balotelli scored Italy's opener through a shot from outside the box in the 21st minute.
Andrea Belotti doubled Italy's advantage in the 69th minute of the match.
In the 72nd minute, Yahya Al-Shehri managed to score Saudi Arabia's goal after Salem Al-Dawsari made use of a defense slip to pass the ball to Al-Shehri who dribbled the Italian goalkeeper, delivering Green Falcons' only goal.
The Green Falcons are still to play two friendlies – against Peru and Germany on June 3 and 8 respectively – before engaging in World Cup competitions.
