The Saudi Arabia national football team, known as Al-Suqour (The Falcons) or Al-Akhdhar (The Green), represents Saudi Arabia in international football. The team, bearing the colors green and white, is one of the most successful national teams in Asia. Its achievements include winning the Asian Cup 3 times in 1984, 1988 and 1996; qualifying for the World Cup 5 times in 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2018. In 1994, Saudi Arabia’s first World Cup, the team surpassed Belgium and beat Morocco in the group stage before falling to Sweden 3-1 during the round of sixteen. In the next 3 participations, the Saudi team emerged from the group stage of the World Cup. While Saudi Arabia did not qualify for the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, for 2018 the Saudi team is part of Group A playing against Russia, Egypt and Uruguay in the group stage.
