The Saudi Football History Documentation Project team holds its third meeting

Today, Monday, the Saudi Football History Documentation Project team held its third regular meeting, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), Ibrahim Al-Qasim, representatives of the clubs, members of the General Assembly, and representatives of the participating parties: the Ministry of Sports, the Saudi Professional League, and the Saudi Broadcasting Authority.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Hakim Ghazawi, the researcher and sports historian nominated by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), reviewed the most prominent work done by international historians during the last period, the most prominent of which was the delivery of more than 300 official documents from the FIFA archives about the history of Saudi football, in addition articles related to Saudi football, from the official magazine of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), issued in the mid-seventies, and more than 400 photos from the archives of the FIFA about the participations of Saudi national teams and clubs, in addition to a number of documents dating back to the mid-sixties.
The international experts nominated by the FIFA also completed a number of advisory studies on the history of Saudi football and compared it to some cases of a number of international federations and the project map proposed by the experts, which will be presented to the clubs to receive comments after agreement with the work team.
Secretary-General Ibrahim Al-Qassim revealed the completion of the preparation of the internal digital platform for the project, through which teamwork will be enhanced among team members, and all necessary documents will be archived, in addition to a number of features that will help speed up the pace of work.
The necessary administrative arrangements for the project were also revealed.
Al-Qassim reviewed the proposal received from a number of clubs after the second regular meeting, to reconstitute the work team after changing a number of clubs’ boards of directors and transferring ownership of some of them.
The representatives of the clubs, members of the General Assembly, approved the proposal submitted to reconstitute the work team who were elected in the second meeting, provided that the clubs are re-asked to nominate at most one member from each club as local documentation specialists, and the team will be voted on in the fourth meeting after receiving all nominated names.
It is noteworthy that an email will be unveiled in the coming days to receive public opinions and receive documents from interested historians who wish to participate.
