The Saudi Arabian Football Association (SAFF) will launch, tomorrow, Wednesday at 10.00 P.M, in Riyadh, the new version of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup for the current season 2023-2024, coinciding with the draw for the semi-finals of the competition, with the participation of Al-Hilal, Al-Nasr, Al-Khaleej and Al-Ittihad clubs.
The inauguration of the new version of the cup comes due to Al Hilal Club retaining the previous version after winning the title last year, and it is the fourth time that it has been crowned champion of the same version (2015, 2017, 2020, 2023), as paragraph 4 of Article 27 of the regulations for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup stipulates that: The club that wins the cup three consecutive times, or four separate times, is entitled to own the cup's copy.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup is the most expensive local tournament, and historically 10 champions won it: Al-Ahly, Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr, Al-Shabab, Al-Ettifaq, Al-Wahda, Al-Fayhaa, Al-Faisaly and Al-Taawoun.
The previous edition of the cup was inaugurated in 2011, and this cup witnessed great competition between the clubs from then until its last appearance in the last season 2022-2023.
It is noteworthy that the champion of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup receives a prize of 10 million riyals, in addition to a direct seat in the Saudi Super Cup and a direct seat in the AFC Champions League.
