Today, Wednesday, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), launched the new version of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, during a ceremony held in Riyadh, in the presence of club representatives, a number of athletes and media representatives.
The inauguration of the new cup came after Al Hilal won its fourth title in the cup that inaugurated the (2011-2012) season, as the regulations for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup competition stipulate that the team who won the title three consecutive times or (4) separate times has the right to obtain the cup.
The design of the expensive cup in its new form is inspired by the design of previous versions with the same design idea inspired by tradition, which proves the importance of the cup and its historical value in the region.
The design of the cup, which awards the winner with an amount of (10) million Saudi riyals, was made using (925) sterling silver coated with pure (24-carat) gold, and the weight of the cup is (9.32 )kg, referring to the year (1932) AD, which is the year that witnessed the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The cup is topped with a football coated with pure gold and malachite, and (4) distinctive handles descend from it.
In the middle is the logo of the two swords and the palm tree, which symbolizes the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to the name of the cup being hand-engraved in a circular shape.
The cup is (54) cm high, the base diameter is (17 ) cm, and the width is (18 )cm.
At the bottom is a base made of marble with malachite.
On the other hand, the draw for the semi-finals of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup resulted in a confrontation between Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal teams on Al-Ittihad grounds, while Al-Nassr will meet Al-Khaleej on Al-Nassr grounds, as former national team stars Abdullah Saleh and Nasser Al-Mansour participated in the draw ceremony.
