The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) launched the second version of the Women's Teams Support and Development Program participating in the Premier League and the Women's First and Second Division Leagues, where financial support was increased from 50 million riyals last season to 60 million riyals for the new sports season 2024-2025 in order to keep pace with the challenges and implement the development program for women's teams.

The Saudi Federation aims, through the support program, to raise the level of women's competitions, establish new teams, develop work in the age groups in clubs, encourage the development of their organizational and technical performance, and reach an advanced professional level in order to develop national teams in all age groups.

The second version of this initiative represents a major development, as the number of participating clubs increased after the first version of the program from 34 teams last season to 70 teams next season.

The structure of the competitions was also updated in the second edition, including the launch of the Second Division League and the Futsal League, with the addition of the criterion of contracting with a coach with an Asian PRO training license to raise the technical level in women's clubs, in addition to adding criteria related to sports medicine, nutrition, and technology to improve the quality of performance and training within the teams.

The teams were divided into three categories based on the competitions in which they compete: (a) Premier League clubs, (b) First Division League clubs, (c) Second Division League clubs and Futsal clubs.

For her part, the Director of the Women's Football Department, Alia bint Abdulaziz Al-Rashid, confirmed that the program in its second season aims to enhance women's football, by raising the level of clubs and developing emerging talents, and achieving a professional level that matches the sporting aspirations in the Kingdom, in a way that serves local competitions and national teams in all age groups.
