International referee Khaled Al-Turais is participating in the referees' course for referees nominated for the 2026 World Cup, organized by FIFA from February 23-27.
FIFA had previously announced its preliminary list of referees nominated to officiate matches at the 2026 World Cup, which included a Saudi refereeing team of four, the largest representation of Saudi referees at the World Cup finals.
The nominated Saudi team consists of Khalid Al-Turais (referee), Mohammed Al-Abkari (assistant referee), Abdulrahim Al-Shammari (assistant referee), and Abdullah Al-Shehri (VAR referee).
They have previously participated in a number of continental and international tournaments, including the AFC Champions League, the AFC Asian Cup, the World Cup qualifiers, the FIFA U-17 World Cup, and the 2025 Arab Cup.
