The Saudi Arabian Football Federation is continuing its preparations for the start of the youth and junior competitions season for the current sports season, following the closure of the registration period on August 27.
The competition aims to broaden the base of football participation and discover and develop talent from an early age.
The new season's competitions, which are set to begin on October 14, will feature approximately 34,000 matches across the under-5, under-7, under-9, under-11, under-12, under-13, and under-14 age groups.
This season will also see the introduction of the newly established under-5, under-7, and under-9 age groups for the first time.
The number of registered teams and players has exceeded the initial targets for the project, which included the participation of more than 3,200 teams and over 40,000 players in more than 50 cities and governorates, while the number of registered teams has surpassed 3,200.
With the registration phase complete, the project moves to the second step related to the preparation phase for the competitions, which focuses on completing the readiness of the teams and participants, and preparing the various organizational and technical aspects.
This phase includes reviewing and approving the registered teams, completing their distribution to the cities and governorates, preparing the match schedules, in addition to holding introductory workshops for the teams and the participating administrative and technical staff.
