
The first edition of SAFF Women's Cup will be launched

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation announces today, Wednesday, September 6, 2023, the launch date of the first edition of SAFF Women’s Cup in November, with the participation of 16 teams divided into two levels, 8 teams in each level, according to their positions last season.
The first level includes Premier League clubs; Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, Al-Shabab, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, Shoullat Al-Sharqiya, Al-Riyadh, Al-Qadisiyah, while the second level includes the First Division League clubs; Al-Bairaq, Jeddah, Nejmat Jeddah, Ittihad Al-Nosour, Al-Hemma, Soqour Al-Gharbiyah, Sahm, and Al-Amal, as the tournament will be played in a knockout system, starting from the round of 16.
The draw ceremony of SAFF Women's Cup 2023-2024 will be held today in the presence of representatives of the participating clubs at the headquarters of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation in Riyadh.
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation approved the financial prizes for SAFF Women's Cup, as the champion will receive 750,000 riyals, the second placed team will receive 500,000 riyals, and the third placed team will receive 200,000 riyals.
Director of the Women's Football Department, Mrs. Alia Al-Rasheed, indicated that holding SAFF Women's Cup represents an important step within the development plans for women's football, as increasing the number of matches during the season is one of the strategic goals that contribute to raising the technical skills of the players and increasing the competitiveness between the teams.
Al-Rasheed added that the success of the Women’s Saudi League and the First Division League in its first season accelerated the rest of the steps aimimg at developing women’s football, wishing success to all clubs participating in SAFF Women’s Cup.
