Korea clinches the WAFF U-23 Championship title in Al-Ahsa

Member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), Nazih Al-Nasr, and Secretary-General of the West Asian Football Federation, Khalil Al-Salem, crowned the South Korean national team with the West Asian Under-23 Championship Cup, on Tuesday.
The South Korean team won the title after defeating its Australian counterpart on penalties (4-3) after the end of regular time with a score of 2-2, in the final match that took place between them on Tuesday at Al-Fateh Club Stadium in Al-Ahsa.
The Saudi under-21 team won the bronze medal after defeatingEgypt on penalties (4-2) after the end of regular time in a 2-2 draw in the third-place playoff match that took place between them on Tuesday.
The Jordanian team secured fifth place after defeating its Iraqi counterpart with a score of 3-1, while the Thai team achieved seventh place after defeating the UAE team with a score of 1-0.
It is noteworthy that Al-Ahsa hosted the tournament during the period from 20-26 March, with the participation of 8 teams, including 4 from outside the region, in continuation of the plans of the West Asian Football Federation aimed at expanding participation and opening the way for national teams to play matches with competitors from outside the region with the aim of diversity and gaining more experience.
