Al-Nassr wins the Women’s Premier League in its second edition

Assistant Minister of Sports for Sports Affairs, Adwaa bintAbdul Rahman Al-Arifi, in the presence of Vice President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, Lamia bint Ibrahim bin Bahyan, and Director of the Women’s Football Department, Alia Al-Rasheed, crowned the Al-Nassr team with the Women’s Premier League Cup in its second edition for the 2023-2024 season.
Al-Nassr Women won the league title for the second time in a row after their victory in the eleventh round over Al-Hilal team with a score of 4-2.
The coronation of Al-Nassr Women came after the conclusion of the team’s confrontation with Al-Ittihad on Sunday in the final round of the league with a score of 0-1, at Al-Awal Park Stadium, raising Al-Nassr’s score to 37 points to secure the lead by 17 points over Al-Ittihad.
Al-Nassr, the Premier League champion, received a financial reward of 2 million riyals, while Al-Ahly Club received 1 million riyals as the second-place prize, while Al-Shabab Club received 600,000 riyals as the third-place prize.
At the level of individual awards, Al-Nassr Lina Bousaha won the best player award in the tournament, while Al-Ahly player Ibtisam Jaradi won the tournament top scorer award, while Al-Qadisiyah club player Lindsay Harris won the best goalkeeper award.
For her part, Vice President of the SAFF, Lamia bin Bahyan, congratulated Al-Nassr Club on achieving the Women’s Premier League title, noting that this achievement would not have been possible without the great support of the Ministry of Sports and the SAFF, before praising the efforts of all participants in achieving this achievement.
Bin Bahyan added that the distinguished level demonstrated by the league will greatly reflect on the development of the players, which will serve the goals of the national women’s football team during the next stage.
Director of the Women's Football Department, Alia Al-Rasheed, congratulated Al-Nassr Club for achieving this achievement, stressing the success of the goals desired by the Women's Football Department and the great level witnessed in the season over 56 matches.
She pointed out that the next season of the Women's Premier League will witness an increase in the number of teams to 10 teams, as three teams will be promoted from the first division league, namely Esperance, Al-Ula, and Al-Amal, while Al-Riyadh Club will be relegated to the first division.
She explained that there are developments at all technical and organizational levels, in addition to the existence of many specific goals to develop the women’s football sector in the Kingdom.
