Saudi Arabia will host the FIFA Club World Cup 2023

FIFA announced today that the next edition of the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 will be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from December 12 to 22, 2023, and thus the Kingdom will become the sixth country to host the tournament since its launch in 2000.

Hosting the tournament that brings the continental champions clubs is an extension of the series of major sporting events that were held in the Kingdom, and a reinforcement of the great momentum that Saudi sports enjoy today, thanks to the generous support of the wise leadership, and the direct interest of His Highness, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman may God protect him.

On this occasion, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, said: “We are proud of this hosting, and we welcome the most powerful football clubs in the world and their fans in the Kingdom and abroad, in this hosting, which is a continuation of the international sporting events that it is witnessing thanks to the unprecedented support that we enjoy from our wise leadership, and the direct interest of His Highness, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman may God protect him, who stands behind all these global hosting and events for which the Kingdom has become a headquarters".

His Highness added, "Today, the Kingdom is taking an important step forward in the journey of transformation in the field of football, and we are confident that everyone will live the reality of the progress that has been achieved in our country at various levels".

For his part, Yasser Al Misehal, President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and the member of the FIFA Council, said: “Today, Saudi football is witnessing unprecedented growth, and it has become the focus of the world’s attention as a result of the keenness of our wise leadership and the great support of His Highness, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This strong tournament is very popular around the world, and always carries competition and excitement, in addition to recording many surprises and historical moments since its launch. I would also like to thank FIFA for their confidence in us in presenting an exceptional version of this world championship".

Choosing The Kingdom to host the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 is the latest milestone in the development of Saudi football, which comes after Saudi Arabia's decision to host the AFC Asian Cup 2027, while the Kingdom also submitted the file to host the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026.

In recent years, the Kingdom has become one of the fastest growing countries in the sports sector in the world, as it has received hundreds of thousands of fans in major sporting events, including football championships, the Spanish Super Cup, the Italian Super Cup, in addition to Formula 1, Formula E, and the world heavyweight championships, and the Dakar Rally. The Kingdom is also preparing to host the World Martial Arts 2023, the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts 2025, the Asian Winter Games 2029, and the Asian Games 2034.
