The Competitions Committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation approved the distribution of participating teams into two levels based on their rankings last season.
The first level included Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Shoalat Al-Sharqiya, and Neom, while the second level included Al-Amal, Al-Taraji, Al-Himmah, and Ittihad Al-Nusour.
The top four teams in last season's Women's Premier League—Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, Al-Qadisiyah, and Al-Ula—directly qualified for the quarterfinals, in accordance with the approved tournament regulations.
The SAFF Women's Cup is held in a knockout format, with the quarterfinals being played as a single leg, the quarterfinals and semifinals as two legs, and the third-place match as a single leg.
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation also approved the tournament's financial prizes, the champion team will receive 1,000,000 riyals, while the second-place team will receive 500,000 riyals, and the third-place team will receive 200,000 riyals.
For her part, Alia bint Abdulaziz Al-Rashid, Director of the Women's Football Department at the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, emphasized that this competition represents a fundamental pillar in promoting the continuity of women's competitions and honing the skills of female players.
"The Federation Cup is an important platform that provides clubs and players with the opportunity to increase interaction and competition, which positively impacts the overall technical level and contributes to the discovery of more talent capable of supporting the national teams.", Alia bint Abdulaziz Al-Rashid said.
It is worth noting that Al-Ahli won the last edition of the SAFF Women's Cup for the second consecutive time, after defeating Al-Qadisiyah, who finished second, while Al-Nassr finished third.
